Meet Donna Rich

Someone once described my father as the “quiet man in the corner who commands all the attention.” It sounded like a silly statement, but it made perfect sense. My father is an accomplished public speaker, with a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He has a deeply engaging baritone voice – when he speaks, people tend to listen. Most people would be surprised to learn that he is actually quite introverted.

I am my father’s daughter. I spent years traveling the country public speaking and have never been known to shy away from a good party, but I’m really very reserved. Like my father, most who have met me would be surprised to learn that I am an introvert. Crowds of people can be exhilarating in small doses, but I really shine one on one or in smaller groups engaged in more intimate, meaningful conversation.

Owning a business in a customer centric profession, this creates some challenges, but in reality, has a lot of benefits. I may not be the person who jumps up and down and demands to be seen and heard, but I am the person who you want to design your home. Introverts are expert listeners. So, if I have a superpower, that is it.

My Passion for Design

People often ask how I got into the business of interior decorating. My mother would say that I was born with a love of decor, but I was formally introduced to it when I was in my 20s. I used to conduct interior accessory design in-home parties for years and enjoyed helping homeowners pull their interior spaces together with just the right finishing touch. My undergraduate degree in communications design is where I learned to work with color, space, and layout for a variety of different media. This background translated effortlessly into designing interior and exterior spaces, which is so much more fun than just accessory design!  I have a graduate degree in management which provided an excellent foundation for running a business. Putting the two together was just a no brainer. I have a passion for designing beautiful spaces and I love the flexibility of being my own boss.

When I speak with a client or prospect, I listen, intently. I can often glean more out of a 20-minute conversation than I ever would from a 10-page design style questionnaire. My clients are often amazed at how I am able to design a space that speaks perfectly to their style or that appeals to both spouses.
